‘Discovering Whitehaven’ to premiere at 2024 Indie Memphis Film Festival

Bianca Ford's Discovering Whitehaven will premiere on November 16, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Crosstown Theater and stream online for the Indie Memphis Film Festival.

The film explores the Whitehaven community through its resilience, ongoing challenges, and the people working to shape its future. The documentary highlights organizations and individuals connected to the neighborhood, including Brwnskn Yoga, Respect the Haven, Gregory Grant of Southbrook Properties, Memphis City Councilwoman Yolanda Cooper-Sutton, and others.

Discovering Whitehaven was produced by Skygaze Studios, an independent film studio focused on telling stories that might otherwise go untold, with an emphasis on perspective, observation, and community-centered storytelling.

The short documentary will be screened alongside Big Time, a documentary about the life of legendary Memphis basketball coach, educator, and activist, Sylvester Ford Sr. 

The screening marks the first festival premiere for Skygaze Studios. Festival tickets are available through Indie Memphis.
